Women’s Intuition Examined in Edmonton

Skeptically Speaking and the Greater Edmonton Skeptics Society are pleased to announce “Women’s Intuition and Other Fairytales,” a presentation by feminist and skeptical activist Rebecca Watson. Learn about the appeal of the Law of Attraction, magical cosmetics, anti-vaccination myths, and how we can fight against this wave of irrationality.

“As Oprah has proven many times over, there’s a lot of money to be made by marketing your pseudoscience directly to women,” Watson says. Rebecca Watson is the founder of the woman-focused website Skepchick.org. She has organized and spoken at conferences around the world, contributed to several podcasts, and has an asteroid named after her.

GESS spokesperson Marc-Julien Objois says, “I’m excited to hear about Rebecca Watson’s take on the pseudo-science that has been specifically marketed to women, and even more so what we can do about it.”

The presentation will take place in Telus 150 on the Edmonton campus of the University of Alberta, at 18:00 on Sept. 21. Tickets will be $5 at the door. Please contact Marc-Julien Objois for media attendance and other inquiries at (780) 709-6272 or mobjois@gmail.com.
